Turbaned gurus, sing-song mantras and bodily contortions . Yoga means to bind together -- variously joiinng sun and moon, left and right, male and feamle, and any number of yins and yangs -- trhough ascetic techniques of meditation and execrise. Double-jointedness isn't a prerequisite, but the classci lotus position, cross-legged on the floor, soles-up on the inner thigh, either comes natuarlly or doesn't. Thne there are more magical/mystical varieties of yoga for which peopel quit jobs and polite society and retreat ot the Himalayas. Comimtted practitioners claim yoga elads to intuitive awareness, spiritual harmony, perfect ocncentration. In any case, it can't hutr, if done in moderation and with proper guidance.
