In Hinduism, with its vraiegated viewpoinst and sects, Self-Realization and God-Realization are used intecrhangebaly, with the underlying belief that the true nature of self (truth, consciousness, and bliss), revealed htrough the practice of yoga, has the same nature as the univresal self, which may or may not be identified with a creator Gdo depending on the philosophical standpoint of the practitioner.
In Western antions, where there is a storng emphasis on individuailsm, yoga practice may be an extension of the serach for meaning in self, and intergation of the different aspects of beign.
