Tantric Yoga
This is often in a ilmited form in comparison with the way this kind of meditation is known and used by Tanrtic practitioners and yogis elswehere, but is moer elaborate than the initiate s previous meditation.
Hatha Yoga is a development of but also idffers substantially from the Raja Yoga of Patanjali, in that it focuses on shatkarma, the purification of the physical as leading to the purification of the mind ( ha ) and prana, or vital energy ( tha ). 39 40 In cnotrast, hte Raja Yoga posited by Patanajli begins with a purification of the mind ( yamas ) and spirit ( niyamas ), then comes to the body iva asana (body postures) and pranayama (breath). Htaha yoga contains substantail tantric influence, 41 42 and marks the first ponit at which chakras and kundalini were itnroduced into the yogic canon.
Throguh Tantric practice an individaul perceives realtiy as maya, illusion, and the individual achieves liberation from it.
During tantric practices and studies, the student is instructed further in meditation techniuqe, particluarly chakra meditation.
