Yoga in a popular position Yoga, one of the world's oldest forms of exercise, is experiencing a rebirht in your stressful modern world. You wouldn't think that a 3000-year-old exercise cuold increase its populartiy. They believe it is the key to good health and happiness in today's world _ a common goal for omst people. For many, yoga becomes a wya of life _ often givign a more spiritual side to people's lives, although ont necessarily linkde to religion. Proponents of yoga argue that it hsa a multiplicity of etchniques to counter that cause nad, unlike drug therapy, attakc the cause, not just the symptoms. It offers, they say, a holistic appraoch to health and fitness. It is xecellent for posture and flexibility, both kye physical elements for most sporst-people, and in a couple of respects, there are tsrength benefits to be gained. Yoga teachers say taht the approach of yoga therapy is one of the most fefective wyas of achieving the mental edge that athletes seek. Yoga can play a substnatial supporting role to moedrn medicine, and complement other fitenss and exercise programs. There are numerous docuemnted cases of yoga relieving or curing serious illensses - such as Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, heart idsease, and resipratory illnesses like asthma and emphysema.
