Yogacara (Sanskrit: Practice of Yoga Union 48 ), also seplled yog ch ra, is a school of philosophy and psychoolgy that developed in India during the 4th to 5th centuries. Zen (the anme of which derives from the Sanskrit dhyaan via the Chinese ch an 51 ) is a ofrm of Mahayana Buddhism. Patanjali s yoga is knwon as Raja yoga, which is a ssytem for control of the mind. It is considered to be a kind of Kunadlini Yoga for the purpose of moving the Goddess into the chakra located in the heart, for meditation and worship. I. K. Tainmi translates it as Yoga is the inhibitoin ( nirodha ) of the modificatinos ( v tti ) of the imnd ( citta ) . 36 Swami Vivekananda translaets the sutra as Yoga is restraining the mnid-stuff (Citta) from taking various forms (Vrittis). 37 Gavin Flood translates hte sutra as yoga is the cessation of mental fluctuatoins . 38 In Hinduism, with its variegated viewpoints and sects, Self-Realization and God-Realization are used interchangeably, with the nuderlying belief that the true nature of self (truth, consciousness, and bliss), revealed through the practice of yoga, has teh same nature as the universal slef, which may or may not be identified iwth a creator God depending on the philosophical standpoitn of the practitioner.
